More Cats...

This morning while making my usual milkweed check I did come across 3 more tiny caterpillars.  Like I have said before it's not my desire to 'save them all'. So for now, there is a total of 12...and no egg from yesterdays find. ):

I did experience something pretty special. Remember me talking about molting and how the cat grows but its skin does not? Well, I was moving one of the latest cat to fresh leaves. While in my hand (yes, that is my palm)  IT went through a MOLT! See it's face cap below and the 'old skin' right next to the caterpillar. So small that I could not even feel it as he starting crawling away. Definably a New To Me experience.

So here we are with 2 cages. The one on the left has the 3 newest cats and
other has 9. I'm not sure I like the cage on the right. I got it last year at Cabela's on sale. It opens  only half, from the top. Time will tell.

Again I do other things too, like crochet~

Here is the video to the Ring Around the Rosie vest. This was make for my 3.5 year old granddaughter. The fiber is Lion Brand Mandala in the color of Spirit.

Bye for now.

...and so a New Year begins by...

                                                     ...hiking!

10 of us braved single digits temperature for a 3.5 mile hike! Took about and hour and half. A great way to start 2018!

I haven't been tatting too much, but I have been crochet, getting ready for my granddaughter's 3rd birthday party. The theme is 'Ice Cream'. So....here are a few things I am working on.

This is drawstring purse for the 'Birthday Girl'.

These cones will be a 'banner' by crocheting together with a chain and hang on the wall as a backdrop. They will given to the children or mom and use as a face scrubber or bath cloth.

Last item to pass out are these little bitty goodie bags.

I have one more item that I have been working on but I won't post until after her birthday.  *smile*

Happy New Year friends!

Christmas movies, crocheing and tatting!

With wind chill factor being below zero (Fahrenheit) it's a great time for P.J.'s and staying indoors. Here is what I crocheted. A ponytail hat/neck warmer. Easy to make and in no time at all I had one made for myself.

Also, having a blast with these adorable ICE DROPS. A little something for the Christmas tree, or hanging anywhere you want a little color.

Here I have already added my beads to the ball thread, ready to make these dandy little gems up into 'Ice Drops'!

So many have started making these and I have seen a lot on Facebook and even Pinterest. The gems are little glass pieces about 3/4 inch. They can be found in the floral department of most stores. They are used to add to the bottom of a vase. You may have notice them. I found some at Wal-Mart, Dollar General and Hobby Lobby.

Now, I will share the link on how to make these 'Ice Drops'.
Diane, aka 'Lace Lovin' Liberian' has shared a tutorial for making these. Many thanks Diane! Have fun making these and share with me your Ice Drops! Love to see what you come up with. https://lacelovinlibrarian.blogspot.com/2016/11/step-by-step.html

Have fun! Take note, they are additive to make! LOL

My first week in Cool, California

Now remember, I had not held this precious grand daughter since she was 9 days old, so I had a whole year to make up for~
Time to unpack and pull out the handmade goodies....a little crochet poncho and hat. *smile*  At this point Penelope loves to point her finger!

Here we are at her first 'Story time'. Not sure who was having more fun! I think I was. Penelope is not to sure what's going on. Didn't take long for her start really enjoying the puppets.  OH! This was her 1st birthday too~

A few days later it was time for her first gymnastic play day. Her mom is a retired gymnast  and coach for cheerleading and gymnastic. Hence, starting her out early.

                                               Working on her handstands....

This amazed me. When her mom tells her to tighten her knees, her hands go up and she balances on her own. WOW! Then she says 'YEA'.

Stay time to more post...there was so much to do and see in my 3 week visit.

Tatting and crocheting...

The 'theme' for my main bath. Being the Cajun that I am...*smile*

The doily is a German pattern. Under the 'cell phone holder'. Mary Konior's Glass Mat from the book Tatting with Visual Patterns. Look at the cute little crochet 'tea candle holders. So darn cute. The pattern can be found here! -votive-candle-holders
One of these days, when the spirit moves me...lol, I will get it all together. But for now, I am having fun just making my way threw...

Crochet Barefoot Sandals

It's that time of the year and I am making these for my daughter and grand daughter. For the most part, I found triangle patterns and added beads as I crochet. Then added a toe ring and ties. Fun!

This one is from Clematis Barefoot Sandals.

I am using size 10 thread. Using up tons I had when I first starting tatting...lol

Now to make more...

Crochet Scrunchie

This was soooo fun to do and sooooo much faster then tatting one!! I was introduce to a 'new to me' blog, found here:  http://lovestitches.blogspot.com/. She has a wonderful tutorial on how to make this hair piece.
I used size 10 thread and 1.8mm hook. I am working on another, getting ready for summer! Stop by her blog and say 'Hi'!

I am now working on one that is red white and blue. The thread is Valdani size 8. It may be a little smaller but so far its just as cute. Another way to use up my size 10 and 8 thread!

Remember the Pumpkins...

Well, my youngest daughter Ondrea also wanted crochet pumpkins for her gymnastic/cheer-leading class. I just received this pic and I wanted to share with you. What a wonderful surprise to see all these smiling faces. Miss 'Oh' (as the girls call her) is center front. Thank you Ondrea and  thank you Bomb Squad for making my night~

Tunisian Entrelac Crochet

This my first attempt at Tunsian crochet. Its taking me a while to get the 'hang of it', but I know once I do, it'll go fast. This is for Ondrea, my youngest daughter. Here you can get an idea of what it looks like with only the first 3 rows. Sophie truly enjoys being in the middle of things...*smile*

It's been awhile...

....but yes, I  have been busy. Sophie is now 4 months old and has completed her 6 weeks of 'Puppy Education'. Yea!!!
I crocheted a baby blanket for my newest grandson Judah Adonai. Just finished last  night.

My daughter Desiree and grand-daughter, Jhordon had a request for tatted bookmarks. They wanted ones that they could put
in their bibles...Jhordon wanted the colors of a rainbow, with white on top. I thought that 'Tat-Man's' shuttle pattern looked most like a 'cloud'. (Thanks Mark). The other one has a "D"...for Desiree.

Also, she asked if I could make crochet pumpkins for the children's Sunday school class.
I have been making them since 1980, when Desiree was 4 years old and took them to her class during the fall season. You put them on 'blow pops', or any type of candy on a stick. Well, good thing I had some put away, because she wanted 36! So, I guess I best start now for years to come! lol

I would be happy to share the pattern if anyone of you would like to make them. Perhaps it's too late for this year, but maybe next!

Happy Labor Day Week-End

School has started and today the weather was a bit cool...wow could that mean 'fall' is around the corner?
Well, remember the baby blanket I was crocheting? The more I worked on it, the less I liked the way the yarn felt. I used 'A pound of love' and it was just awful! Sooooo I did another, in a different yarn, and a different pattern.

Up date on Sophie.
She is now 3 months old and enrolled in a  'Puppy Classes'. She is doing great...I'm the one that needs the training...lol  This morning she was outdoors and found this pail filled with last nights rain water. She could not resist dropping her ball in the water only to get it out and run around!

                                                                        GOT IT!!!!

She just loves water...what a 'play baby'.

AND...I am working on making clothes for walking when it gets cold...here is the first jacket. Blue was the only knit fabric I have on hand...'smile'

The sleeves were way too long....had to roll them up. So, here is the finish product:
                                                                     Much better.
