Plants still blooming....

Christmas plants not only survived last years week in the freezing garage...they are blooming for the 2nd time this season! Doesn't take much to get me this excited!!

Here is Miss Penelope all worn out from her photo shoot. The pic you see was commissioned by her grandpa. Since Ondrea loves the color 'Tiffney Blue' he thought it was very fitting to have a painted done for her to add to the nursery. Audrey Hepburn in the movie 'Breakfast at Tiffany's.

February 20th. Wow this month has gone by so fast...Missing that baby girl.

When its so cold out doors its easy to sit and tat booties! The top one has little pearls on the edging and the one below had seed beads.

As William Shakespeare would say:
The Eyes are the window to your soul. That is what I see looking at Miss Penelope.

Ondrea and Penelope!

Another 'Pretty in Pink'...

I've finished the set, now all I have to do it 'put it together'. The pattern is Mary Konior's 'Goodie Two Shoes'. Thread is size 20 in the color of Pink Medium and Pink Parade.

Bradford Pear tree is starting to bud!

Things are turning green!
My 7 AM 5.5 mornings walk was a good one. NO WIND and what a difference that makes. Didn't even notice the mid 43 degree temperature. Today was a larger group. I think I counted 15. Here is what a saw on today's walk...

Silver and Charcoal protest...

...is all done. My daughter Ondrea's checkerboard. In honor of my father who loved the game. Not only did he play with anyone and everyone who walked through our kitchen door, he studied books on checkers. Years of learning thousands of moves, (Memoriszed entire games to set traps to win, for instance Window Of The MILL, etc). He was a true champion. Daddy died a few days before her 2nd birthday and Ondrea never got a chance to sit with him at the kitchen table and play with him. But our stories and memories of us playing with him live on...

The checkers are from the 1930's. This took about 70 hours to tat and 6 and half weeks to tat. Pattern is from Mary Konior's book: A Pattern Book of Tatting called Eightsome Reel. Thread is Lizbeth's Charcoal Med. and Silver in size 20. For the picture I only laid the square on a folded piece of fabric.

While visiting my youngest daughter....

....in the Sacramento California area, she and her boyfriend took me to Old Sacramento and San Francisco, which is where both pic was taken, (top on at the beach at the Golden Gate Bridge).

Later during the week she and I venture to Napa Valley. WOW, is about all I can say.

I was still able to tat. I started tatting this Spinning Wheel Glass Mat, (pattern by Mary Konior) in Dallas, Texas, while on the plane and finish as I watch her at her new job. Ondrea is a coach for competition gymnastics.

Leaving just a piece of me with her...Love you baby girl~

The tatted pieces arrived in Australia...

I am doing a wonderful craft exchange and here is what I sent my new friend. She mention she liked blues...so 'Queen of Hearts' by Mary Konior was a given.

It all started when Mrs. Gina saw a tea set I sent to England. She made a comment about a tatted teapot and cup I had made for a fellow blogger, Jane.
So, I made this for her also. If I am correct, the teapot is by Pam Palmer, and the cup and saucer is by Judith Connors. Sent a few hand made hooks too, so she can hang them if she wishes. Now I am waiting for my package...can't wait to see what I get! *SMILE*
You can read about this on Patra's Place of Stitching: Gina E.

If my Tuesday Tatting group has to hear this...

.....I will share with you too! I wanted to make a small doily, something to put in my newly remodeled bathroom. I was visiting with my friend Elaine and she made Mary Konior's Spinning Wheel 'glass mat's' just a tad smaller by using less rings. Perfect!

Loaded my shuttle, sat with 'Visual Patterns' on my lap and away I went. Except....because I was also watching TV (gotta blame it something) I noticed after the second row that is a lot more rings then I remember. Wow, what happened to adding less!!!

Finally I realized what happened!!! I'm also sitting under a ceiling fan and the fan blew my page!! Well, what's a person to do. Don't want to waste what is now  my favorite color...so I go on....Mercy Me! This will take about 7 shuttle's worth of thread.

Not even sure I'll have enough! LOL Oh, well, I guess this is going to be the outer ring of one of the potted plants that are soon to be brought in from outdoors...thanks goodness for Fall!

Ready for a new week...

Last Monday I wanted to go to Micheal's to look at chains to add to my tatting necklaces. I never made it. I was T-boned in the parking lot! No one was hurt, but I feel like I have been 'hit by a car'! Now the fun part of waiting for the other driver's insurance to claim liability. Oh my. I should have shopped EBAY!!!

So, in the meantime I am tatting and this is my latest. Another Mixed Bouquet by Mary Konior. The thread is Lizbeth size 20, the color Tropical Punch and using seed beads. What's a girl to do...

It's been a crazy month....

I have been tatting in between a back bath remodeling, but took a break from that to have the pool decking resurfaced.  Now back to the bath. FUN FUN. It will be great when all is said and done... Now, here is what I have been doing. The black one is Mary Konior's Mixed Bouquet. The red/blue one is from Yarnplayer's Ripple Necklace. The bottom left is a triangle taken from Jon Yusoff's 'Square Block' pattern. Bottom right is from a motif #3 from Free-tatting.com. Some with beads, some without.

Saying good-bye

I so wanted the Mary Konior's book Tatting in Lace. But wow...just not in my budget! So, I borrowed the book threw Interlibrary Loan. I found that the book was at the  Independence, Mo. library. I went to my local library, filled out a form AND 3 weeks later I HAD THE BOOK! It came to my home town library and I had the book for 3 wonderful weeks! But, all good things must come to and end. I have been blessed
to have had the chance to view the book. Now, its time to share with someone else!

For Judah Adonai...

More edging...

from Mary Konior's 'A Pattern Book of Tatting'. This is one shuttle full of Lizbeth size 20 for the 'butterfly' edging. For the 'scrunchie' I used Valdani size 8 and this took two Sew Mate shuttles full. I am not sure yet if I will add more. My hair is thin so I have to more than double the twist, and the white is underneat anyways....

Last week my friend called and said that she found a clearence sale on the Valdani thread. 25 cents a ball! Boy, did we have fun going threw the different colors...They were in a package of 3, some 4 and a few had 2 in a package and I think I bought 17 packages! Ahhhh..... the little things in life.

'Coronet'

This is a tatted trim called 'Coronet' from the book 'A Pattern Book of Tatting' by Mary Konior. I used my lasted HDT (hand dyed thread) size 20 from Linda Mattox at ETSY: lkmattox. Love the colors! This trimmed measured about 7 inches in length done from one shuttle full, using rings only.
