Invitation to a 'Thread Shower'...

Dear fellow bloggers, A member of the Facebook group 'Tatting Designers' wrote this a few days ago:

Sad...Sad story. I haven't been on for a while due to moving. I put all my thread and supplies in a 55 gal trash bag (that's a lot of thread) and put my 'prized possession' on the top of the truck and netted it down and headed out. Well, I didn't net it down good enough and about 5 miles down the road, it came off and the bag shattered all over the highway. It being after dark, I didn't notice it gone for another 5 or so miles. When I circled back and found it it was dark and I couldn't see it all. I managed to find my needles but lost almost all of the thread as it was all over in the ditch and buried under the snow, what I could find was so tangled, I couldn't pull it apart. I had put all my completed pieces in this bag. I was only able to salvage half a kitchen trash bag of thread. It has been like a death in the family. I am so heartbroken and bummed.
I just know my tatting family will understand and commiserate with my loss and pain. lol....so go hug your favorite shuttles and needles and look lovingly on your favorite thread...and sigh a sad sigh for me....

So after reading this I asked her if she would 'allow' me to put together a 'thread shower'. I wrote:  we understand your 'story' was NOT a plea for thread!!! In this awesome tatting group we do understand your loss! If you would allow, I would be honored to start a 'thread shower' for you. But only if you agree. I could collect thread threw the month of January and perhaps have it sent to you by Feb. 14. Now, is that love or what? BUT only if you agree. Let me know.Hugs...Nancy Dugas-Gilmore and here was her reply:

Well, if you put it that way...that sounds like it could be a blast. I just thought I might have come across as bumming...and that was NOT my intention and would have embarrassed me to the ends of the earth. With sincere THANKS & APPRECIATION for your thoughtfulness, here is my address: Pati Blackwell, PO Box 587. Highmore, SD 57345. USA

So, dear tatters, what do you think? Could you spare a ball or two? Since she has given her address feel free to send directly to her. Think about it and lets make 2013 and Valentine's Day she won't forget! Thank you ladies.

I understand completely her loss and so would like to help as well. I can send a ball or 2 after the middle of the month when hubby gets SS check. I will definitely make a note of it! Thanks for orchestrating this Nancy!

Its a small thing to do for someone who has lost so much. I thank you as well, for helping Pati replace her thread.

This may be a duplicate post. My screen is little and doesn't always show the publish button. I am late to the shower but will send some thread to Pati. I would be heartbroken as she is..
