What happens to our blog...

...if we should die? This came to mind a while back so I thought I would ask your opinion. I have notice that some blogs where owners have died, are used as a place where memories can be shared. I like that. But what happens when the owner has chosen to monitor the comments? The message, if left are just 'waiting'?

What have you done, or will do? Just wondering...

Since Gina's passing I've thought a bit about this myself. I've been thinking about talking to my daughter about taking care of it, closing it down, something, if anything should happen to me. Do we now need to make arrangements in our wills? Who would have thought?

Wanda, thanks for the reply. I was also watching the news the other day and it made mention of accounts like Facebook and the like...'someone' was trying to work on something that would help in this matter. Yes, with Gina's passing it has been on my mind. I do enjoying going back to see all her lovely work and words of wisdom...you are right, who would have thought. We do live in a new generation...that's for sure.

I too have been thinking about this. I quite like Fox's idea of publishing a year's worth of content in a book, and keeping a library of journals.

But, of course, that takes effort in advance. (Notice how I have not actually done this yet.)

Still thinking...

Interesting to see my own thoughts mirrored here... Seems we have been having similar reactions.

I like that Gina’s blog is still there, and it seems to me that it is not an entirely bad thing to not have any comments after the death of the blogger, but to keep the blog there for memories and all that very important posting, so it can be referenced by us all without anything added.

Adding new comments, after the demise of the owner, to me seems a bit odd. Just my two bits.

I have never thought of this, I would be no good me asking anyone to sort my blog out, Vernon ( husband) does not know how to use a computer, so it will sit there for ever with no one even looking at it.
I like Fox's idea of making a book on what she has put on her blog, but as Vernon does not like books he would probably consider it a waste of paper and time.
He does nothing but complain how much time I spread on my blog and looking at other blogs, somehow my blog will just die with me and left until someone in blogger takes it off.

Oooh, this has really spooked me. This is the first time I've visited Nancy's blog, and I've been admiring all the beautiful tatting. When I found this post, I was curious to see what other people had in mind about their blogs in the event of an untimely death. Then I see you have all mentioned someone called Gina who has died....hope this is not a premonition - I'm Gina too!!!

No worries, Gina E! I predict you a long and happy future! *smile*

Margaret, that's just it. Like you said "until someone in blogger takes if off", it can go on forever. It still amazes me how many times I look for something in tatting am STILL referred to Gina's blog. She is still teaching! I never 'knew' her, but I miss her post dearly.
