Isn't this beautiful! I chatted with the Crielle and was told it took her 600 hours and 400 motifs to make! She use size 20 thread.
I have decide to attempt to start one myself. BUT...I am using size 10 thread. Its not my favorite, but my desire is to finish in MY LIFETIME!! lol. Each motif takes about 35 minutes, including hiding the ends. I have 23 motifs in the first row...I think I will go with a 45 X 45 square. So I guess it may be more of a 'table topper'.
After a week of tatting, I am on row 2.

Wow! I think you are very wise to be using #10 - both for the speed of tatting it and for the body it wil give the finished work. Again - WOW!
Fox : ))
Stunning! Wow!!!!! The original is beautiful and yours will be too.
=O Whoa
Beautiful and wow all that work, I think it's one of those projects that is a lifelong pleasure, well done on trying it and I look forward to seeing your progress however slow, I am sure you will finish it.
Margaret
Thanks Fox. I really appreciate your input! The other thing I did differently from her pattern was to join the picots in 2 places (instead of one) for durability.
Oh my goodness! The tablecloth is beautiful - and huge. Yours will be beautiful too - I will love watching your progress. I agree that size 10 thread is best. I would never be able to keep with the project - kudos to you for being so determined :)
Thank you Margaret! The table topper will go over my parents round wood kitchen table. My sister has had it for the past 25 years (parents deceased), now its my turn to have it in our home. My youngest daughter has already 'claimed' it for future...
Yes, stunning indeed! Thank you for the encouragement!
Thank you Cindy for your kind words! Yes, do check in on my progress. I need to be held accountable! lol
That is quite the inspiration. Oh, yes, size 10 is a good way to go. You have a great start, and on row two already. This will be a nice project for the winter.
Thank you! It looks like size 10 was a good choice. True about being a good winter project. Later it will be too large to move around. With it being white, I am very careful also!
Your tablecloth looks like it will be stunning!!! :)
I started mine about 2 years ago and only work on it from time to time. It only looks like a table runner currently. My motifs take about a half hour also, but I like yours better! I have been using a cheap size 10 thread on it so I am not happy with the quality, but it makes my husband happy. He says if I would like I can switch to better quality thread-I just might, but for now I am just working on it from time to time and maybe it will just end up a table runner. :)
Thank you for stopping by and leaving your comment! You have already invested a lot of work in yours. Continue until the desired size. I know you'll be happy with your accomplishment!
This is going to be so lovely, Nancy. Using the size 10 will make the "topper" much more durable and joining at two picots was genius! Looking forward to seeing your finished project.
Thank you Texas Tatter!
